PURPOSE OF A WIND MITIGATION INSPECTION
The purpose of a wind mitigation inspection is to evaluate a property's structural features that can help reduce wind damage during severe weather, particularly hurricanes.
WHAT INCLUDES IN INSPECTION
- Roof: The roof is one of the most vulnerable parts of a home to wind damage. The inspector will look for things like loose or missing shingles, damaged flashing, and inadequate roof ventilation.
- Windows: Windows can also be vulnerable to wind damage. The inspector will look for things like impact-resistant windows, properly sealed windows, and storm shutters.
- Garage doors: Garage doors can be a major source of wind damage. The inspector will look for things like reinforced garage doors, properly installed garage door openers, and adequate clearance between the garage door and the ground.
