WHAT A WIND MITIGATION INSPECTION INCLUDES?

  • Roof: The roof is one of the most vulnerable parts of a home to wind damage. The inspector will look for things like loose or missing shingles, damaged flashing, and inadequate roof ventilation.
  • Windows: Windows can also be vulnerable to wind damage. The inspector will look for things like impact-resistant windows, properly sealed windows, and storm shutters.
  • Garage doors: Garage doors can be a major source of wind damage. The inspector will look for things like reinforced garage doors, properly installed garage door openers, and adequate clearance between the garage door and the ground.
  • Foundation: The foundation is the base of the home and it is important to make sure it is strong enough to withstand high winds. The inspector will look for things like cracks in the foundation, loose bricks, and other signs of damage.
